Every week, social media buzzes with new topics daily. From unruly influencers to unbelievable crimes, there always seems to be something to talk about as far as you’re online.

Since I care about you so much and don’t want to see these things alone, it just felt right to bring you up to speed with all the dramatic events that happened on Nigerian social media this week.

Let’s get into it

Proposed Marriage of 100 Orphan Girls In Niger State

There has been a tussle between the legislation and executive arm over…guess what? The proposed marriage of orphan girls! I can’t believe we still have to deal with these kinds of problems in the 21st century.

Luckily, the minister of women affairs stood her ground against this kind of wickedness from the people supposed to protect these kids. The speaker of the Niger State Government even said it was his way of providing assistance to the girls. Omo…Nigeria is a crime scene!

Mohbad’s Autopsy Report

Pathologists have finally broken our hearts on the lingering issue of the cause of Nigerian singer, Mohbad’s death.

The way the government swung into action and went about the autopsy proceedings gave us a glimmer of hope and the possibility of justice being served but it was announced that his body was already decomposing as at when it was exhumed and as such, the cause of death could not be ascertained..this hurts! RIP Mohbad

Portable Baeby’s Arrest

The self-acclaimed Ika of Africa proved himself to be a true baboon as he scaled the gate effortlessly in a viral video on social media. The young entertainer attempted to escape arrest by the Nigerian Police on Tuesday last week. He had been reported to the police by a car dealer who had sold a G-wagon to him for 27m, he was said to have paid the first installment of 13m and was yet to balance the remaining 14m.

Korra Obidi’s Vacay

Your favourite online international booty shaker/ dancer forgot her ROE and stepped on the toes of her fans.

She had just recently raised over $60,000 using gofundme for a “help fight for a mother’s right” fundraiser campaign and not too long after the donations, your fave shared pictures of herself enjoying “paradise” in Hawaii.

Things quickly moved from a “gofundme” to a “gorefundme” campaign as her fans caught wind of this and started asking for a refund.

She’s provided clarification with claims that her tickets and vacay have been booked long before the donation. Right now, her fans are going strong, back to donating and the campaign has been updated to “help protect a mother’s livelihood.”

The Controversial Royals In Nigeria

Nigerian British royals

Meghan and Harry were in Nigeria and British media couldn’t help glaring their teeth and waving their devil forks in fury at the couple because of the love and support they got here..

In the heat of their envious confessions, they made reference to the fact that Meghan claimed to have discovered she’s 43% Nigerian, she feels at home with us and went on to share and receive warm hugs freely. As Nigerians, we’ll take whatever win we can get.

Aftermath of AMVCA

As if the hustle to pay off the bills incurred from attendance isn’t real enough, hot takes trail the AMVCA event that was held just over a week ago. Apart from the regular banter on best dressed, who wore what and how much the total outfit costs, celebrities, fashion designers and fans were having a go at whether or not they should be paid for their craft. Fashion designers complained about the entertainers asking them if they wanted to get paid or tagged because they cannot have both.

I recently found out that staying abreast of the happenings in this country is a great way to preserve your mental health and I’m all for that.

Join me on Fusion to unpack these stories in detail and share your opinions on the matter. I’ll be back next week. …till then, ciao!
