Nigerians and their love for their social media influencers is something that needs to be studied. It’s like a love-hate relationship where the social media influencers are always right and loved until they are no longer right and these same fans turn against them and critique them with the same vehemence.

Social media influencers are strong people, they go through a lot (even in the hands of their fans) just like everyone else and still come out smiling, looking good and being all nice to these same fans.

Here are some of the most popular Nigerian social media influencers that people love with passion.

Tomike Adeoye (aka Olori Ebi)

Olori Ebi as she is popularly called is a renowned actress, entrepreneur, talk show host and brand influencer. With almost 800k followers on Instagram only and double this number on other social media platforms, she has dominated a niche where she has captured the hearts of young people with her fashion sense and Yoruba vibes.

She does a great job as MC/Anchoring events and churning out excellent content on social media to keep all her fans glued to their phones. She is the influencer of influencers.

She also knows how to throw a lavish party and pull everyone in the industry in. Tomike is the best to do this Olori Ebi thing, just leave it for her.

Did you know that Enioluwa is a Phd student? Yups, steeze with brains! That’s what I like to call him.

He came to the limelight by dropping a short video using lip gloss and speaking Yoruba/ English and boom it caught like wildfire! And from that time he has shown himself to be exceptional, creating wonderful content and doing nice cross over and collaboration with other celebrities like Chef Hilda.

He’s the first brand ambassador for Crocs in Nigeria amongst others. He’s the EU-Africa ambassador. He is also the brand ambassador for various international skincare brands like Mac Cosmetics, Fenty Beauty and even our own Toke Makinwa’s skin care brand. Man’s simply unrelenting. Layi wasabi, is one of the most creative and popular skit makers in Nigeria. He came to the scene and moved content creation several notches higher with his vast knowledge base, goofy attitude and even leveraging his course of study in the university to create a niche for himself.

Layi is creative on every front. A winner of the African magic people’s choice award, as best content creator in 2024. His various personalities on set have earned him many nicknames like; Layi, Lecturer, GNCC Finance Coach and the funniest of them all in my opinion, De law

Layi has close to 400k followers on Twitter and other social media platforms, he has hundreds of thousands of followers. He’s partnered with various local and international brands and he keeps making us proud.

Victoria James Atere – (aka Veekee James)

Fashionista number one, her dress sense and fashion empire is putting Africa on the map and inspiring a lot of people, giving them something to emulate. In fact, there was a story of a man who was crying when he received clothing from Veekee.

Recently, she was named in the Forbes Africa’s 30 under 30 list for 2024. She’s every young fashion designer’s dream.

She is energetic yet super intelligent and creative. Constantly churning out beautiful clothing and content for her thousands of fans (VJ Army). She recently got married and has had the “single pringles” in a chokehold ever since.

Okuneye Idris Olanrewaju- (aka Bobrisky)

Bobrisky is a multi-talented crossdresser, identifying as a woman and might be willing to drag anyone who identifies him otherwise. One of the most controversial influencers but he’s currently serving time in jail for a trending video of which he/she made, spraying the Nigerian Naira at a party.

Bob is a beauty expert who can make anyone look beautiful with all the products that he sells through his influence. From fabrics to skincare products and the likes, he even won one award for the best dressed female at an event, not too long ago..lol. You may not like him but he has a way of sparking curiosity and getting people’s attention and that is what he gets paid to do.

Chinedu Ani Emmanuel – (aka Nedu Wazobia)

Call him Oga Nedu, End time Landlord or Officer Jato you would not be wrong. This influencer is one who creates very funny videos yet, he is on a quest to shape the lives of many Nigerians with his podcast which discusses topical issues.

This prolific polyglot, media juggernaut and online personality has been through a lot of dragging’ yet he has been able to keep his head high causing his naysayers to eat their words.

Bunkunmi Adeaga-Ilori – (aka  Kie Kie)

The diva with some street vibes! She doesn’t play with her steeze, never to be caught un-fresh, she has proven to create trends as well as jump on trends and own them.

Kie kie is the life of the party wherever she goes. Not only does she do a great job when it comes to anchoring events. She has a way of electrifying her audience with her dance moves and cracking them up with her funny character and the “accent”

She is a great OAP with a style that is unmatched. She has garnered  over 4 million followers over the years, on Instagram alone and her people (fans) love her. When you see a movie she is in, just know it’s gonna be a vibe.

Emmanuel Chukwuemeka Ejekwu – (aka Sabinus/Mr Funny)

Oga Sabinus is so funny that even when he is off-character as Chukwuemeka, he is still funny! His facial expressions do it for me. His creativity is unmatched and his content is very unique and addictive.

Mr Funny is an AMVCA award winner in 2022 and has over 5 million followers on Instagram alone. He is very smart and has his own very popular theme song.

Sabinus has a team of other funny people which he features and they are also becoming very popular. His fan base does not play, they love him so much.

Daniel Regha (aka Mosquito Legs)

Arguably the most controversial influencer in Nigeria; this guy’s comments hit like a bomb and he takes no prisoners. I’ve never heard or seen him commend anyone’s efforts or hard work, he prides himself on being a critic; criticizing everything that crosses his path, especially the Nigerian entertainment industry.

People still love him in all his controversy, hailing him and shaming those against him. Daniel likes to speak on socioeconomic matters and his tweets feature on the news, posting some of the most criticized content.

In fairness to him though, some of his criticisms are very accurate but he’s not diplomatic about airing his opinions. So once Daniel Regha decides to visit your matter, you might need to get a box of tissues.

It’s so bad that Daniel was asked to market a brand, he still went ahead to criticize them. Daniel has a following of over a million on Twitter and a few thousands on other social media platforms but he still manages to influence people in all those spaces, creating topics and trends.
